October to December 2011
We are happy to report that our Lion Impact Study has been completed and these documents will now be submitted for permits shortly. Once successful we will enter into further negotiations for the lions, put up the electrified camp and bring the lion’s home to Mountainview. The lions will then be used, not only for tourism, but also for education purposes. We are planning educational tours with various schools and/or groups, not only pertaining to the lions but to our other wildlife as well. Team building weekends will be available as well as peace and quiet for those who just want to relax and unwind.
The end of November brought many new-comers to the Mountainview family and we have had “ babies” from all species with many more expected during December 2011. Our captive ostriches are also doing well and will be re-leased in the coming year.
Many renovations has been done and this will be on-going in the new year, (but remember this will not interfere with your visit) and we trust that we can start on the luxury tents early in 2012.

The dams, that have not yet been completed, will be re-build in 2012. Angel Falls, our waterfall has undergone the necessary repairs, grass planted, a new braai area build - we are now awaiting rain for a magnificent view of the waterfall. Water coming from the cliffs and mountains are already ensuring some water at Angel Falls and it remains one of the favorite places to visit on the Ranch.
We would like to thank all our visitors for your support in 2011 and to those who come on a regular basis – you have already become family.
We wish you all a very safe and blessed Christmas period and prosperous 2012.

We are proud of 8 new ostriches born at the end of August 2011. They are currently being hand raised, due to Jackal predation, so please view them upon your visit to Mountainview. During September these baby ostriches were filmed for a new South African movie and when permission has been granted by the Producers of the movie, we will post information, photo's and a video clip.

Mountainview Game Ranch has been under new Management over the past few months. We are currently busy renovating much of the accommodation and facilities and the ranch. New luxury tents should be available early in 2012.
The swimming pools are all being renovated and will be ready end September 2011.
Due to rain and floods in the area some of our dams are being re-constructed as well as our two waterfalls. These should all be ready for visitors by the end of September 2011. Many of the dam walls were damaged with the last rain and these dams will also be stocked with fish once construction has been completed to ensure our "catch-and-release" fishing continues.
The popular Quad bikes have gone in for repairs and service, to ensure visitor safety and the quads should be back by the end of September 2011.
New game has been brought in to create a new and healthy bloodline. We are proud of the Livingston Eland introduced to the area and very happy to report that at least 7 new calf's have been born. Additional Wildebeest, Giraffes, Ostrich, Kudu, Nyala, Waterbuck and Zebras have also been brought in and we are looking forward to the birth of their offspring later this year. Unfortunately, due to the current Rhino problems in South Africa, there are no Rhino's at Mountainview. We are however in process of doing an impact study and applying for permits to keep 3 x Lions, in a lioncamp close to the lodge. If we are successful we will advertise the news on this page, so keep visiting! We are planning many exiting things for Mountainview Game Ranch and will keep you posted on this page.
